Description:

Who doesn't love a good RNR session?
Well, depending on what RNR stands for it could be no one loves it. Or lots of people?
If we leave it unclear, everyone hates it and goes home confused - and lets out the frustrsation on those who're around.
We would not want that. Do we? Do I?

A Little RNR

Several years ago there was this grimy song that appeared to not only promote but actively encourage serious violence.
It was very inclusive, too. The word 'always' does not have the same meaning as 'sometimes' or  occasionally'.

I think that's literally the case.

With that said, the singer later clarified they do not, as a matter of fact, support such behaviour.
The lyrics, a sum of sociocritical dos and don'ts (I'm over simplifying... it's much more elaborate than I could possibly make it sound), that end with 'Thou shalt always kill' - are to be thought about and not taken word for word.

Incidentally, that's also how it begins - it's not the first line, but the title of the song.

And you'd think he thought about it when he preceded that line with 'Thou shalt think for yourselves'.

You can't teach everything, can you? Especially not in one song.

And that's how we learn that 'to kill' does not mean to commit a murder. You can make a killing at any profession, you might even have blood on your hands, other people's blood, or your own, or some animal's, and you'd be well within the confines of the law.
Just think of a butcher or a surgeon or a stock broker.

What's that got to do with RNR? Or R&R? Or RvR?

It's got bugger all to do with that.

It's called a setup...

This is not about rock 'n' roll.

And, to most, this is not much in the sense of rest and recuperation.

No, this is more about how the words rap and rape are easily distinguished, whereas the lines between rapping and raping are more often used interchangeably. Or so it seems. Someone one actually wrote a song about that, too.

Here's the thing, though, it's not about that either.

It's called a plot twist.

Even when there's no plot and only a twister.

Here's the thing, for real, this time:
9 out of 10 times I see the words 'rape' or 'raping' or hear them, it has about as much to do with involuntary sexual encounters as 'making a killing' involves knives or guns. Unless you make a killing with a shipment of weapons.

The 10th time is probably when I accidentally look at the news and there's another victim to such heinous acts.

The other 9 times is usually more in a more civilised environment. Like a video game. Or its chat or other comments. Not actually the game itself, mind you.

Maybe it's because those gamers don't really understand the delicate mechanics of physical relations, or the English language.

I mean, normally if you destroy, shred, obliterate your opponent or opponentess your respective genitals are neatly tucked away.

And if they're not, it's either you or the game that's unusual, or both.

Be that as it may... It's between you and your peripherals. I'm cool with that.

It's very unlikely that the rapist and rapee - during an online battle - have any physical acts or bodily fluids exchanged.

There is a good chance that one or the other or both would still walk away from the ordeal all butt-hurt.

But that's another story...

A story of kids being kids.

And that's just going to make things weird if we try to include that here.

And if that lead your mind to the gutter, I hope you brought a candle.

And matches.

An unlit candle is relatively useless in the dark if you only seek light...

I do not care about any law - real or made-up - or anyone that has any different interpretation of the word "FAIR" - don't care how broken it is and you think it ain't.

This is what I say you may or may not do with my work:

YOU MAY take every letter, word, phrase, sentence, paragraph, chapter, an entire piece or a collection of my work and DO SOMETHING with it.

YOU MAY NOT take an atom of my work and WRITE ABOUT, TALK ABOUT it, or make other form of 'PIECE' ABOUT it - nor use it for any form of personal or monetary gain.

YOU MAY NOT translate a word, phrase, sentence, paragraph, chapter, story or parts thereof if all you do is translate it.

YOU MAY NOT take any exceptions to that - without my exclusive consent - what I publish here is public and free - do not take that away from me.

I do not write for profit nor power - I write for anyone who wants to read.

I do not want anyone else to treat my work with any less dignity and respect than I do.

You are going to look very stupid if you disagree, and really boring as a person.

That is something you live with.

I am being very clear on that.
